The Boeing 747SP (Special Performances) is the smallest of all versions of the 747. Its aim was to operate on ultra-long-haul flights. It first entered into service with Pan Am Air in 1973, but wasn't ordered by many airlines. Only 45 aircrafts were built. Now they mostly fly under private or government colors, but also as a test bench as for the NASA, or Pratt & Whitney airplanes.
